It’s flexible: You answer to only you. You set your own rules and time i.e. work at your own pace 

You’ll find personal satisfaction: It’s near impossible not to feel pride for your own hard work. Don’t be ashamed to pat your own back for it.  

You’ll have full control: All the colours, finishes, and look are all at your fingertips.

Cons

Skill-dependant: Pros have had a lifetime to hone their skills versus your once-in-a-lifetime effort. Don’t be surprised if your work isn’t as well-finished as theirs. 

Limited experience: Again, pros have had the opportunity to learn how to not only work hard, but work smart. You’ll not have the know-how for tackling larger and more complex projects.

Equipment cost: Chances are, you won’t have the equipment at hand – you’ll have to bear the extra cost of buying or renting them. Worse still, after you buy them, you’ll almost never use them again.

Time-sink: Painting eats up your time. All the days you would otherwise spend resting from regular work will be spent figuring out how to paint your home.

Pros

Quality-work: The pros have thousands of hours of working experience. Why wouldn’t they be masters at their craft?

Time-saving: Nobody wants to be stuck at work. Pros know how to complete work in half the time, or less, compared to your humble self. 

Warranties: Many professional painters pride themselves on the quality of the work. Most offer warranties on their work to remedy any problems arising from their work. Can you imagine giving yourself a warranty?

Tons of equipment: The professionals don’t just have all the necessary equipment – they also have speciality equipment you’ve never seen before. Needless to say, you won’t be required to rent or buy anything.

Cons

Cost: You’re not just paying for their workmanship – you’re paying for their years of experience and expertise that makes them good at their job.

Schedule: Effectively, strangers will be in your house. You may have to work around their schedule and availability. 

Limited control: This is a big maybe – you may have limited control over the overall look of the project. Because the only person who knows exactly what you want is you.
